Our very first Custom Design-Build High-performance home project.
This home has many upscale features and upgrades.
The exterior sheathing is 1" insulated ZIP R-sheathing by Huber, adding more insulation value and preventing thermal bridging. We are the first contractor to use this product in Richmond area, as unofficially verified by Huber representative.
Master bath was designed to accommodate wheel chair access with curbless linear drain and expanded space for toilet with grab bars. Niches were created in the bathroom and in the shower area for display items and toiletries.
Entry door, all bedroom doors and sliding doors in the Great room are all 8' tall, which makes the space feel better and larger than normal. All windows, entry doors and sliding doors are by Pella that are super energy efficient and very easy to operate.
90% of the lamps are LED. Under and over cabinet LED lights with dimmers in Kitchen and over shelf LED lights in built-in bookcases on either side of the fireplace. Remote control for fireplace and deck fans.
HVAC system was optimally sized with fresh air intake. Bathroom vents have a 0.3 sones rating to reduce noise. A home monitoring device was installed to see the energy usage in real time.
This home is EarthCraft certified and received a HERS score of 59 making it 41% more efficient than a similar code built home.
