Passionate about promoting better design and energy efficient construction

Soumitra Banerjee moved to the US from India in 1986 after completing his Bachelors in Architecture from Jadavpur University in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta). He graduated from Virginia Tech (go Hokies!) with a Masters of Science in Architecture degree. Since his very first job he has adopted Richmond as his place of residence, and has been living here with his beautiful wife and two adorable children - once a Virginian always a Virginian!

Soumitra started a design firm, Banerjee & Goff, in 1992 providing architectural services, space planning and retail design. List of clients include Circuit City, Belk, Advance Auto Parts, Ferguson, Virginia Supportive Housing and Southside Community Development & Housing Corporation to name a few, many of whom are still his clients. He gradually broadened his services to include home design since the late 90s and started Theta Homes in 2013 to provide custom design and energy efficient construction services.

Soumitra has always been open-minded about learning new things and this aspect of his personality has turned him into an innovation expert and entrepreneur. His proficiency with technology and its innovative use in home-building is what he loves to demonstrate through his work at Theta Homes. He is not only a partner in the company, but a designer and energy efficiency expert par excellence. He also has a wealth of experience in project management, energy-efficient solutions and construction technologies.

He is a great listener and is always open to new ideas that would make a home a more efficient and sustainable. You will enjoy meeting him and trusting him with the project of your dreams.
