Affordable ADA-Compliant Duplex Home 1625-1629 – Chestnut Park Ln
This project is an ADA-compliant accessible duplex (two single-family attached homes) we built in the Matthews at Chestnut Hill development in Highland Park. Highland Park is a neighborhood comprising several historic districts located north of downtown Richmond, VA.
The site was developed by Southside Community Development and Housing Corporation (SDHC), a non-profit organization committed to building communities that change lives. Our design firm, Banerjee & Goff, designed all the homes in this development, and we are honored and proud to be part of this project.

- 1625 Chestnut Park Ln: 1,120 sf; 2 bedrooms; 1 1/2 bathrooms; HERC: 62
A HERC score of 60 means the 1629 home is approximately 40% more energy efficient than a similar home built to standard energy code, while a HERC score of 62 means the 1625 home is about 38% more energy efficient than a comparable code-built home.
These homes were designed to combine accessibility, efficient layouts, and energy performance, providing comfortable and inclusive living spaces within a thoughtfully planned residential community. The development itself is part of a broader effort to create sustainable neighborhoods and increase homeownership opportunities.
